IRIS members Jan Prebble, Laura Hair and Margaret Rodgers participate in art exhibition in Beijing

The China Millennium Monument – Beijing World Art Museum is currently exhibiting works by seven contemporary Canadian artists along with works by some of China’s  artists in a group exhibition that ends December 10, 2012. The Canadian artists include Barbara Suen who spearheaded the project and received an Ontario Arts Council Exhibition Assistance grant, Margaret Rodgers who was acting Canadian curator, Todd Tremeer, Janice Taylor-Prebble, Laura Hair, Marjatta Beasley and David Gillespie. All are residents of Durham Region, Ontario.
It is the first time that this prestigious state-run institution has exhibited Canadian works of art. Consequently, Mr. Zhengyue Liu , Cultural Officer of the Embassy of Canada to China attended the exhibition opening ceremony on behalf of the government of Canada.
The exhibition will tour other cities in China before becoming a part of the permanent art collection of the Ministry of Culture of the People’s Republic of China.
