IRIS in OSHAWA

We are pleased to be  part of OshawaSpaceInvaders2014.

This year our pop up gallery space is at 14 Ontario Street Oshawa

Opening Friday September 19, 6 - 12 pm
HOURS: Saturdays 12-6 and Wednesday to Friday 10-6.

The streets will come alive with pop up art galleries from September 19 through 27th, 2014.  Approximately 200 artists will present exhibitions in vacant commercial spaces. IRIS is a well-established collective of women artists representing a unique relationship to Oshawa and the Durham Region.

The IRIS space will show artworks representative of members' individual work over the past year, with Maralynn CHERRY, Rowena DYKINS, Laura M.HAIR, Holly McCLELLAN, Judith A.MASON, Janice PREBBLE, Mary Ellen McQUAY, Margaret RODGERS, Sally THURLOW, and Wendy WALLACE.

Also, on September 27 Rowena Dykins will offer a FREE Japanese Brush Painting workshop at one hour intervals from 1 - 4 pm. In these one hour sessions, Rowena will demonstrate how to get a feel for the brush, the ink and the paper. Participants will be encouraged to experiment with the materials to learn the natural shapes the brush makes, the consistency of the ink and the absorbency of the paper, to paint a colourful butterfly, mist filled mountains, or enjoy the medium in one's own way.

OshawaSpaceInvaders, is supported by the Downtown Oshawa Board of Management (BIA) and numerous individuals and businesses in Downtown Oshawa.
