An IRIS Group Collaborative Workshop
International Women's Day 2017
Wednesday, March 8th
Trent University Durham, 55 Thornton Road South, Oshawa,
Room 115
3 - 6 pm
The IRIS Group is collecting slogans and imagery relating to International Human Rights, and to current and historical social and environmental issues.

Fabric and markers will be provided for participants to recreate these words on material that will eventually be sewn into quilts, combining that most traditional and collaborative women's work with the contemporary need for strong voices.   We also have a long list of previously enjoyed placard texts that you may choose.

The eventual art pieces, embodying the handwriting and drawing of all participants,  will be posted on our website: theirisgroup.com and exhibited at a future IRIS event. (IRIS has the right to reject any work that defames, ridicules a person or group or makes statements that cannot be fact checked.)

Please join us in creating a memorable art piece based on the words and feelings of so many participants in recent and ongoing organized movements for change. If you are unable to participate in the workshop, you may email your slogan to:  sallythurlow1@gmail.com

Please note that this working group takes place before and after a special presentation with Katie Taylor, first female chair of a national Canadian bank and champion for women in leadership.
